Introduction to Hebron Massacre
| Al-Khalil
( Hebron )
A city on the southern hills on the West Bank of the Jordan River. The Ibrahimi mosque is placed in this city. The Massacre This massacre took place on February 25, 1994 when an American trained physician, Dr. Baruch Goldstein, stormed in on a group of prayers in the Ibrahimi mosque in Hebron and opened fire on them. In doing this act, he wished to materialize the dream of the typical Zionist movement of annihilating the Arab existence in Palestine. Goldstein, who was killed during this massacre, was later hailed as a hero for his murder. more than one person committed the massacre and the plan was originally to attack several mosques in the city such as Khaled Ibn El-Waleed Mosque. |
The Massacre
around the Ibrahimi Mosque
3 Palestinians
were killed outside Ibrahimi mosque as the Zionist soldiers shot them dead
by their bullets. One in the western gate of the mosque, The other was
shot beisde the nearby Jewish lounge and the thrird was laid to
his rest in Al-Sheikh neighbrhood's cemetery.
Massacre of Al-Ahly Hospital
While Palestinian
of Al-Khalil were taking their wounded and dead in panic and terror to
the hospitals of the city, Zionist soldiers proceeded the one of the most
ugly massacre in their black history.
The National
Hospital (Al Ahli Hospital) in Al-Khalil is not even close to the center
of the city, settlements or any other Zionist military center. The hospital
is located in the northwest part of the city. The (Israeli) Defense Army
(IDF) followed people to the hospital killing and wounding more innocent
Palestinians.
Palestinians
came to the hospital to donate blood, check on a loved one or simply to
express sympathy with the victims and their families. Many others came
to assist in transporting the wounded and the dead or to bring medicine
to the hospital. Even some of the patients of the hospital came out to
help the crews or donate blood.
Those who
were transporting the dead or the wounded to the hospital had no problem
locating the operation theater for this new hospital. One rescuer said
that "You only needed to follow the path of blood to know where to take
the victims" amid all of the panic and confusion.
Israeli
Defense Army made their attack. Dozens more fell dead or wounded. The crowd
screamed in terror and the IDF announced that people were violating a curfew
imposed on the city and had to return to their homes. Not very much different
though from that of Kafr Kassem Massacre when dozens of people were massacred
because they violated a curfew they did not know about.
Hebron
became a havoc. People screamed here and there. Ambulances sirens heard
everywhere. Private cars driven very fast moving dead or wounded people
and the army of (Israel) announcing from loudspeakers on military jeeps
that the city is under curfew.
According to the testimony of the director
of Al-Ahly hospital, A young man who just donated blood left the hospital
and he was returned to it shortly after the Zionist soldiers shot him dead.
They brought him back without the upper part of his skull. Four of the
people who donated blood were later killed by the soldiers in the vicinity
of the hospital.
Variety
of Zionist Weapons in the Massacre
After treating
the dead and the wounded and extracting the bullets in Al-Ahly Hospital,
They found different types of bullets. Some bullets were shot from Uzi
machine gun and other bullets including the dumdum were shot from other
types of guns. There were also other wounds resulted from splinters which
confirmed the testimonies of people that hand grenades were used.
